Tanya’s Tips for Photographing Fireworks: Bringing it all together!

Feeling ready to WOW your friends with amazing photographs of the fireworks display?

Okay, I’ve gone into each of the steps in a little more detail over the past few days, so this is just review:

1. STEADY your camera: Use A TRIPOD or lean against something.
2. Shoot in manual mode (M) and use manual focus. Try using an aperture between f/8 to f/16.
3. Set your shutter speed on 1″, 2″ or 4″ secs.
4. Switch your flash off and go ahead and leave your ISO at 100 so you won’t get a lot of digital noise.

If you have do not have manual controls on your digital camera, just make sure the flash is off and use the nighttime mode if one exists. Many digital cameras today even come with a specific fireworks setting!

Have a fun and safe holiday!
Happy shooting!
Tanya

Christmas Reflections: What’s really important?

With the holiday season in full swing and the new year fast approaching, I always find myself reflecting on what’s really important.  Usually the answer is always the same for me: family!  And this holiday season that answer seems to be more present than ever.  There have been too many reminders lately of just how important family really is.

As a friend recently said to me, “Keep your family close!” With so much sad and heavy news lately from some of my friends: family deaths, horrendous accidents, and close calls; I have been even more grateful than usual for my loved ones. During the busiest time of year, in a culture where busy is the new normal, make sure you take time out this holiday season and ENJOY YOUR FAMILY! The greatest gift you can give to others is to be PRESENT with them.

Happy holidays! Be merry. And remember to take some pictures!

RWSS + Falling Whistles = TBP Photobooth {Charleston, SC}

What a great event at Rogue Wave Surf Shop!  In an effort to raise awareness for Falling Whistles, a campaign for peace in the Congo, Rhett Boyd, owner of RWSS began selling the whistles and threw a great party for peace.  Tanya Boggs Photography was there with a photo booth to capture some of the action.  Below are images of the party goers and some of the new “whistle blowers for peace.”
