Happy 2013 from Tanya Boggs Photography: Our Year in Review!

Ready or not, 2013 has arrived! And we are so excited about some of the things we have planned this year.

But first we thought it would be fun to review the highlights of 2012, show you some of our favorite families, and share some of our successes.

We started last year by moving into a studio downtown. Our apartment was BUSTING at the seams before that. January also began with a new logo and a new website for our growing business. And those decisions certainly set us up on the right path for 2012!

In February, we were thrilled to photograph the red carpet entry at the Leukemia Society’s Annual Ball. We also set up a photo booth inside the event. The combination of the music and dancing h ad everyone a little loose and willing to pose for the fun!

Patrick and I were thrilled to participate in a national fundraiser for Operation Smile, called Celebration of Smiles. And thanks to some of you, we raised over $700 and saved 3 smiles! We’ll be doing that again this year, so look for it in April.

We were also honored to be the photographer for Dining with Friends, Charleston, an annual local fundraiser for Lowcountry AIDS services.

Riverside Designers

We worked with Jennifer Ferrell of Riverside Designers on several projects. One of which will be published in the upcoming winter issue of Charleston Home + Design. Jennifer designs beautiful spaces that make our job really easy! And when we bought our house this past year, Jennifer was one of the first people we called!

A personal highlight for me this year, was getting a brief moment to work with Helene Dujardin in the studio here at TBP. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Helene during a very exciting time in her life as she transitioned from a food photographer and blogger extraordinaire to the Senior Photographer at Oxmoor House. And I was lucky enough to spend a few hours playing with our food and learning from one of the best in the business.

On Saturday, April 21st Tanya Boggs Photography will participate with an elite group of photographers around the country in a very special portrait promotion. From 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on April 21st we will be providing a wonderful opportunity for you to update portraits of yourself and any family members you wish. In doing so, you will help to support Operation Smile, which provides free surgeries for children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

Along with other members of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), we are offering the gift of an individual portrait session and a 5×7 inch portrait in exchange for a $24 minimum donation to Operation Smile. For every 10 individuals we photograph, another child will receive the gift of surgery! It costs as little as $240 for Operation Smile’s medical volunteers to provide a life-saving surgery that can take as little as 45 minutes. One hundred percent of each donation will go to Operation Smile.

We also believe that our Celebration of Smiles Day is a wonderful way to teach children the value of reaching out to others. Even small children can understand the importance of Operation Smile’s work, and they are eager to help these needy children. We hope you will join with us in helping to make this vital work possible, and we promise to create a portrait that you will treasure.

Have Camera, Will Travel! {Family Portrait Photography, Richmond, VA}

Did you know we travel? Both locally and nationally. And if you’re dying for us to follow you around the world, well that could probably be arranged to!

We have traveled on location to the San Francisco Bay Area; Denver and Vail, CO; Atlanta, GA; Richmond, VA.

Tanya Boggs Photography recently travelled to Richmond, VA to take appointments for Family Portrait Sessions. We also managed to take advantage of our time away by building in a little bit of vacation time and fun for ourselves!

First, we decided to make our trip a motorcycle adventure. Yes, for those of you who don’t know, I ride a motorcycle and occasionally show up for shoots (that don’t require a ton of equipment) on my bike. We also had the opportunity to spend some time on the James River water-skiing and hanging out with some old friends of ours and their growing family!
